Why was Tageslage founded?
Tageslage Media Ltd. launched Tageslage in 2024 to fill a specific gap: Swedish news presented clearly and practically, without the noise of clickbait or opinion disguised as fact. Readers in Sweden and abroad told us they wanted straightforward context – explanations that help them understand politics, the economy, and society without oversimplification or spin. We built this site to deliver exactly that.
The founders of Tageslage Media Ltd., a private company registered in Gibraltar (company number C 92009, Malta Business Registry), identified a growing demand for trustworthy, human‑edited journalism that still uses modern tools responsibly. Sweden’s news landscape had become fragmented, with speed often prioritised over depth. We believed there was room for a publication that treats readers as intelligent adults, offering well‑sourced analysis and a calm, professional tone. That belief remains our founding principle.
Who is behind the editorial direction?
Our editor‑in‑chief, Maximilian Roth (anders.lindqvist@tageslage.de), sets the editorial standards and is ultimately responsible for everything we publish. He ensures every article meets our mission: trustworthy Swedish journalism that helps readers grasp complex issues without spin or oversimplification.
Maximilian Roth leads a dedicated team of section editors and reporters. They include Lisa Schumacher (Redaktionschef), Tobias Graf (Politikredaktör), Caroline Arnold (Wirtschaftreporter), Philipp Klein (Kultur- och samhällsredaktör), and Sophie Lehmann (Ansvarig för faktagranskning). Each piece is drafted by a named writer, reviewed by an editor, and fact‑checked before publication. AI‑assisted tools support research and drafting but never replace human judgement; every article is approved by a human editor.
How is the newsroom structured?
The newsroom is organised into clear desks covering politics, economics, culture, and society, each led by an experienced journalist. This structure allows us to maintain expertise and accountability across every beat. You can meet the full team on our team page.
Our desk heads commission and review stories within their areas, ensuring consistency and depth. The fact‑checking unit, led by Sophie Lehmann, verifies sources and handles corrections. All editorial decisions are made independently of commercial interests. If you have a tip or a story idea, you can reach the relevant desk directly using the email addresses listed on our contact page.
What you can expect from us
Readers can expect clear bylines on every article, transparent sourcing, and a published corrections policy. We commit to never fabricate quotes, sources, interviews, or expert profiles – a rule enforced by our human editors at every stage.
Our editorial policies are documented in full: you can read our editorial policy, our sources and standards page, and our separate fact‑checking policy. Every article includes a date and the name of the writer and editor. If we make a mistake, we correct it promptly and transparently. Our corrections policy explains how we handle errors.
How is Tageslage funded?
Tageslage is funded through display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships, and content licensing. No commercial relationship ever determines editorial conclusions. All sponsored or commercial material is clearly labelled, and affiliate links are disclosed.
We believe transparency about funding builds trust. Our ownership and funding page explains our business model in detail, including the role of Tageslage Media Ltd. and our registered office in Valletta, Malta. Readers can also find our advertising and affiliate disclosure and our sponsored content policy.
