Berichtigungspolitik

Tageslage Media Ltd., the publisher of Tageslage (tageslage.de), is committed to accuracy and transparency in all our journalism. We recognise that errors can occur, and when they do, we correct them promptly, clearly, and transparently. This Corrections Policy outlines our process for identifying, reporting, and rectifying mistakes, ensuring our readers can trust the information we publish.

How do we handle mistakes in our reporting?

When we discover a material error in a published article, our standards desk, led by Sophie Lehmann (Ansvarig för faktagranskning), immediately reviews the issue. A material error is any factual inaccuracy that changes the meaning or understanding of a story, such as a wrong name, date, statistic, or quote.

Once confirmed, we update the article to correct the error. A correction note is appended at the bottom of the article, clearly stating what was originally published, what the correct information is, and the date of the correction. For minor, non-material errors like a typographical mistake that does not affect meaning, we may correct the text without a note, but we always log the change internally.

Who is responsible for what we publish?

Every article published by Tageslage is the responsibility of our editorial team. The final decision on all editorial standards, including corrections, rests with our Chefredaktör, Maximilian Roth (anders.lindqvist@tageslage.de, +46 8 525 030 61). Day-to-day oversight of the corrections process is handled by Sophie Lehmann (emma.sandberg@tageslage.de, +46 8 525 030 66), who leads our fact-checking and source verification desk. She ensures that every reported error is investigated thoroughly and that the appropriate corrective action is taken.

How can you report an error to us?

If you spot a mistake in any of our content, please email our dedicated corrections desk at corrections@tageslage.de. You can also use our general contact email at info@tageslage.de, but the corrections address ensures your report reaches the right team directly. Please include the article title, the specific error you have identified, and the correct information if you have it. You do not need to be a subscriber or registered user to report an error.

What you can expect from us

We take every correction report seriously. Our standards desk, under Sophie Lehmann, aims to acknowledge receipt of your report within 24 hours on business days. We will investigate the claim, verify the facts against our sources, and if an error is confirmed, we will issue a correction as described above. If we determine that no error has occurred, we will explain our reasoning to you. We aim to resolve all correction requests within five business days. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you can escalate your concern directly to Maximilian Roth, who will review the case personally.

What happens if a correction is not enough?

In rare cases where a significant error has caused substantial harm or misrepresentation, we may publish a separate clarification or a formal editor’s note explaining the mistake and the steps taken to prevent recurrence. For the most serious breaches of our editorial standards, we may retract an article entirely. A retraction notice will be published on the article’s original URL, explaining why the piece was removed. Our full complaints procedure outlines the steps for readers who wish to escalate a concern beyond a simple correction.

How does this policy relate to our other editorial standards?

This Corrections Policy is part of a broader framework of editorial accountability at Tageslage. It works alongside our editorial policy, which governs our journalistic principles, and our fact-checking policy, which details how we verify information before publication. Our AI and automation policy also ensures that any use of digital tools in drafting or research is always subject to human editorial review, minimising the risk of machine-generated errors.
